You don't hear UT El Paso often and has always been UTEP. Same thing with the Longhorns. You may refer to them as UT-Austin, but Texas is used commonly so thats what everyone is going to calling them. Its Texas. UTEP vs Texas and thats final! Case closed! OK!!

I can see where you might need the 'at Lincoln' designation.
If you hear that Oklahoma is playing Texas do you wonder if it is the Texas versus the Nation team?
My official name might be canis latrans, but I prefer the common name, kyyote.  It drives the biologists crazy.   ;>)

Yep.  That is straight from UTEP's Athletic site.  I am a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso.  I usually refer to it as UTEP.  The University of Texas at Austin is commonly referred to as Texas by just about everyone else in the country.  Cal is Cal.  If I tell you we have Oklahoma
